This part of our family has been extensively researched by Oleda Gwaltney Hill, the granddaughter of Connie Frances Sykes and the following is the result of her research. This information is believed to be accurate but has not been independently verified. Archibald Doss Gwaltney was born December 20, 1871, and died December 29, 1894. He married Connie Frances Sykes on October 8, 1892. She was born August 29, 1871, and died December 9, 1951. Archibald is buried in the Gwaltney Cemetery on Jenkins Hill Road in Sykes, Tennessee. Connie is buried in the Union Hill Cemetery in Sykes, Tennessee. Archibald and Connie had one son:
1. James Campbell Gwaltney was born on August 4, 1893 and died on April 30, 1968.

James Campbell Gwaltney married Wavey Elizabeth
Reasonover on July 6, 1913. Wavey Elizabeth was born on November 27, 1897 and
died on August 9, 1969. James and Wavey are buried in the Union Hill Cemetery
in Sykes, Tennessee. James and Wavey had seven children:
1. Johnny Arch Gwaltney was born on September 14, 1916 and died on August 11, 1917.
2. Frances Aloda Gwaltney was born on March 14,
1919.
3. George Clydale Gwaltney was born on March 2, 1922, in
Donelson, TN and died on August 15, 1988, in Hendersonville, Tn.
4. Bart Cordell Gwaltney was born on November 11, 1924, in Sykes, TN and died on September 29, 1999.
5. Mary Oleda Gwaltney was
born on December 1, 1926.
6. William Edwin Gwaltney was born on December 29, 1933 and died on
March 13, 1934.
7. Rebecca Jean Gwaltney was
born on March 6, 1935, Sykes, TN and died on January 28, 2002 in Lebanon, TN.

Frances Aloda Gwaltney married Ernest L. Gentry on
April 17, 1938. He was born on June 18, 1912 and died on February 4, 1986.
Aloda and Ernest had four children:
1. Freda Frances Gentry was born on June 18, 1948
and died on June 18, 1948.
2. Stevie Andres Gentry was born on November 4,
1949 in Carthage, TN.
3. James William Gentry was born on October 15,
1950 in Carthage, Tn.
4. Juanita Faye Gentry was born on July 11, 1960.
George Clydale Gwaltney married Elizabeth Ann
Curtis on April 17, 1943. She was the daughter of Dave Curtis and Elizabeth
Anglea. Elizabeth Ann was born on November 10, 1922, and died on September 19,
1989. George and Elizabeth had one child:
1. George Curtis Gwaltney was born on September 16, 1964 in
West Virginia.
Bart Cordell Gwaltney married Lou Alice Russell
on August 2, 1949. She was the daughter of Clarence Russell and Alta Robinson.
Lou Alice was born June 26, 1927 and died on December 16, 1995. They are both
buried in Jones Hill Cemetery in Watertown, TN. Bart and Alice had two
children:
1. George Michael Gwaltney was born on June 7, 1950 in Lebanon,
TN.
2. Randy Cordell Gwaltney was born on November 10, 1953 in
Lebanon, TN.
Mary Oleda Gwaltney first married Paul
Bridgeforth Bass on April 19, 1955 in Nashville, TN. Paul was born on December
14, 1917 and died December 7, 1964. Paul was the son of James Basss and Volina
Gibbs. Oleda and Paul had three children:
1. William Sanford Bass was born on March 22,
1956 in Carthage, Tn.
2. Linda Carol Bass was born on April 23, 1957 in
Carthage, Tn.
3. Paul Daniel Bass was born on May 21, 1958 in
Carthage, Tn.
Rebecca Jean Gwaltney married Lellwyn Ivan
McKinney on April 15, 1955 in Chatsworth, GA. Lellwyn was the son of Lellwyn
McKinney and Flora Tyree. Lellwyn was bon on February 26, 1934 in Hickman, Tn.
Rebecca is buried in Baird Memorial Cemetery in Hickman, TN. Rebecca and
Lellwyn has six children:
1. James Marley McKinney was born on April 20,
1956 in Carthage, TN.
2. Ernie Wayne McKinney was born on July 6, 1957
in Carthage, TN.
3. Susan Annette McKinney was born on July 7, 1958
in Carthage, TN.
4. Emily Christine McKinney was born on June 11,
1959 in Carthage, TN.
5. Becky Fay McKinney was born on December 25,
1961 in Carthage, TN.
6. Dianne McKinney was born on August 10, 1965 in Carthage, TN.
