Elizabeth
Sykes Bible Records
This
is a copy of a Bible Record written on the fly leaf of a small, leather bound
Bible 4 ½ inches wide by 7 ½ inches long, published for the American Bible
Society in New York in 1829. The handwriting is very dim and hard to read. It
apparently first belonged to Elizabeth Shores, wife of Robert Allen Sykes. It
was passed on to their son Mayer Allen (used the name Robert M.) Sykes and his
wife Elizabeth Gooden Crook. They gave it to their daughter, Eliza Jane Sykes,
wife of William Henry Jones. She gave it to her grand daughter Olga Jones (Olga
Edwards, 525 Lake Louise Drive, Tacoma, Wash.) who has the Bible in her
possession.
